Teen girl quits high school and invests college fund in internet business!

For Further Information contact: Liesa Blond Phone: 33 4 99 63 09 31 in France email: liesa@teengirlclothing.com Teen girl quits high school and invests college fund in internet business! Lilah Ward always did well in school, and both she and her family always assumed she would go to college and probably continue through graduate school. Over the Christmas holiday 2002, she decided not to return to school - EVER! "My mom has always told me that I should find something I am passionately interested in and figure out how to make a living at it. She also always says that people who do things because they think they should do them, are doomed to mediocrity. I just knew this was the right thing for me. Life is all about taking chances." Lilah tried to work on her web business on the weekends, but there was never sufficient time to make real progress. She was in a demanding French boarding school with a heavy workload. Her dad helped her create her first personal web page back in 1993, when she was seven years old. Her mom gave her SiteBuildIt!, a site-building package for non-techies, just before Christmas 2002. She has used this to build www.teengirlclothing.com. She has also set up a Yahoo! store and a forum. She is currently teaching herself Dreamweaver and Flash so she can customize her site exactly how she imagines it. She has invested her college fund in merchandise for her Yahoo! store! Lilah says, "My only regret is that I didn't do this sooner." To see what kind of site a teen girl is capable of producing all by herself, visit www.teengirlclothing.com

Traffic School Online / Defensive Driving Online: A Consumer Report

Los Angeles, CA September 20, 2004 -- Getting a ticket used to be a real drag. Not only did you have to pay some ridiculous fine to the court, you had to waste a whole Saturday sitting in a hot classroom with a group of people that you couldn’t relate to if your life depended on it and listen to a third rate teacher, supposedly an expert on traffic laws, lecture to you about statistics and traffic laws. Everybody, even the judges that sentenced you to the traffic school, were well aware that the real lesson was not to actually teach offenders traffic laws, but to punish the traffic law violators so that they would never dare commit the same offense. In response to this punishment, people did various things to get out of spending a precious eight hours in that classroom. Mainly, they either paid their way out of the ticket by simply paying for the ticket (an option best suited to those who could afford to pay higher insurance rates), opted to pay their way out of traffic school by bribing a traffic school owner with money in exchange for a certificate of completion, or paid someone to take the class for them. For those who didn’t fall within the above three categories, we had to waste that Saturday undergoing the scenario described above. In today’s world, the above seems like the dinosaur ages because now you don’t have to be rich to buy your way out and you don’t have to give up your Saturday. Anyone who has received a traffic ticket and wants to dismiss it, anyone who has been ordered to take a traffic school or a defensive driving class or anyone who wants to get an automatic insurance discount can do that without sitting in a classroom and without paying a high fine to the court. Thanks to the internet, this task can be accomplished in a cheap, painless, quick, and convenient manner by attending your traffic school and defensive driving class requirement online. It is fun, easy and best of all; it can be done at anytime of day, from any location of your choice, as long as there is a computer and internet access. Yes, it can be done in your bed or at your work. And best of all, you can do it in either one sitting or ten sittings, as you set the terms. Perhaps the most difficult question is how you find the right online traffic school or defensive driving school online. When doing a simple search on Goggle, hundreds of these online traffic schools pop up, and many of them are not even approved. From the wording of the website, it is very quite hard to figure out if the company has really been licensed by the state to offer the traffic school course. Some of the schools that have just been started claim to be approved and one only learns that they are not after paying them, getting the certificate and presenting it to the court only to be rejected. And when you attempt to get your money back they point you to some fine print text on their website where you supposedly agreed that their certificate may not be accepted. To ease the pain of parsing through hundreds of traffic schools, we did our own investigation. We used five criteria to choose the best online traffic school and defensive driving school online. Those five criteria were: cost, ease of use, accessibility, customer service support, tech support, interesting text, longevity in business. Based on these findings we found three websites: gototrafficschool.com, getdefensive.com, abetterdriver.com. All of these websites are approved by the states, provide a 100% refund if the customer is not satisfied, for whatever reason, and best of all, they provide 24/7 customer support. This feature is perhaps the most important because computers are not a perfect science and as you are working on the program you can have a computer glitch. It is important to be able to call a company so that they can help you. For more information on these websites call 1-888-329-7069.

Local School Rises from the Dust To Plant Positive Seeds

East Palo Alto, CA June 9, 2004 -- A local charter school is defying the odds. The K-8 school was previously closed by the school’s Board of Directors and then re-opened by the parent body. Many predicted that The School of Wisdom and Knowledge would not make it through the school year. Despite these opinions, the school has undergone a year of stabilization and has received unanimous approval for a five year continuance of it’s charter by the Ravenswood City Unified School District. The school's stabilization plan called for a name change and additional financial support. To this end, The Phoenix Academy was born and announces it’s first annual benefit banquet “Planting Positive Seeds”. "Planting Positive Seeds", promises to be a fundraising party to remember. It will be held Saturday June 12, 2004 from 5:30pm – 12am at the Cabana Hotel, 4290 El Camino Real, Palo Alto, California 94306. WALTHILL PUBLIC SCHOOL PURCHASES SCHOOL DRUM

WALTHILL PUBLIC SCHOOL PURCHASES SCHOOL DRUM WALTHILL, NE --- Walthill Public School last week received a Native American ceremonial drum. A $500 Mildred Anderson Community Grant from the Junior League of Sioux City provided the school district with the funds to commission Macy, NE resident Tim Grant to make the instrument. Patricia Browning, secondary school counselor, explained that the school, whose student body is over 95% Native American, plans to start a student drum group in the foreseeable future. She plans to present the drum to the students at a cedaring ceremony, “so the kids can see we now have our own school drum.” A date for the ceremony has not yet been set. “The cultural education gained by a drum group is something that we want to see continue,” JLSC Vice President Mary McGowan stated. Browning would like to see the drum used to play the Omaha Nation Flag Song at ball games and other important events. The Flag Song was composed by an Omaha veteran of Word War I to honor those who served in that war; it has assumed a status similar to the National Anthem for the Omaha people. Browning stated that students would have the opportunity to learn how to play the drum during Project Washkon or a similar after school activity. Project Washkon, Omaha for “to succeed in life” is an after school program financed by a grant of the 21st Century Learning Centers.

The Business of Back-To-School - It's Not Just Pens and Pencils!

Bensalem, PA July 16, 2004 -- Preparing your child to go back to school requires more than just purchasing the supplies on a designated school list. The power to learn cannot ignite without a good nutrition plan. Hyperactivity, listlessness and an inability to pay attention impairs a child’s ability to learn. Parents don’t need a medical doctor to tell them that a daily diet of junk food, first thing in the morning, is not compatible with learning. Teachers often witness students retrieving chips, cookies, sugary cake substances and similar junk food from their lunch boxes during snack time. Under these circumstances snack time can be an educator's worst enemy. An attentive teacher will often observe children who eat these foods peak at a high level of unnecessary energy only to take a sharp dive into listlessness and a lack of focus by afternoon. An education curriculum is at its most rigorous pace during the morning hours. Breakfast meals regularly missed to accommodate the "on-the-go" lifestyle of today's families is to the detriment of a child’s focus, energy and ultimately, their education. Substituting a nutritious mid-morning snack for an insufficient or at worst non-existent breakfast, can be a wise choice made by parents. Quality education at its best requires that students learn while educators teach. A listless, tired, or over-sweetened student must now jump physiological hurdles to learn. One vital building block to helping your child to learn this year is to provide a nutritious, healthy meal when you cannot be there. An excellent snack that can substitute or supplement a nutritious breakfast includes toast or bagel and fruit, oatmeal, French toast sticks and similar choices. Lunch can include your child’s favorite meat and vegetables left over from dinner. This year when you purchase pens, pencils and other school supplies you might consider a Lunch & Go? Lunch tote, relatively new on the market. While traditional lunch boxes merely transport meals from one place to the next, this lunch tote provides portable heat or cold lasting 4+ hours that makes these meals possible. Using this type of lunch tote makes it possible to send nutritious hot or cold meals to school with your child for snack and/or lunch. You can view the vast menu possibilities with this type of lunch tote via the web site below. Equip your child this year for back to school with a healthy diet. When you do you will fire up his brainpower and ensure that the learning process can begin. Once this foundation has been laid, then bring on the school supplies, pens, pencils, etc!
